Lee Kum Kee Group Chairman Mr. Lee Man Tat Selected as “Global Top Ten Outstanding Cantonese”

At the 3rd Global Conference of the Cantonese, Lee Kum Kee Group Chairman Mr. Lee Man Tat was selected as the “Global Top Ten Outstanding Cantonese”. The event was organised by Global Cantonese Association, Jiangmen Municipal Publicity Department of the Communist Party of China, The Jiangmen Municipal Foreign Affairs Office as well as Jiangmen Municipal Returned Overseas Chinese Association with the aim of recognising outstanding Cantonese with immense contribution to the community in multifaceted areas.

Lee Kum Kee Group Chairman Mr. Lee Man Tat, the third generation of the Company, is a native of Xinhui, Guangdong. Adhering to its core value of “Si Li Ji Ren” (Considering Others’ Interests) with firm commitment to product quality, Lee Kum Kee has a long history of 130 years and has developed into a global brand with over 200 types of sauces and condiments selling to over 100 countries and regions worldwide. Mr. Lee values the importance of appreciating the source of success, and is thus enthusiastic in investing in the development of his hometown since the 1990s.

Lee Kum Kee has grown from strength to strength and become a leading corporation in Xinhui. In addition, Lee Kum Kee’s sauces were supplied in support of several “Shenzhou” space missions, surpassing its vision of “Where there are people there is Lee Kum Kee”. In September this year, Lee Kum Kee was appointed as the sauce supplier for the 9th BRICS Summit, furthering its mission of “Promoting Chinese Cuisines Worldwide”.

Mr. Lee Man Tat is particularly keen to support education development, helping to nurture talents for the country. Over the years, he has made donation to build schools in the motherland, including the donation of Lee Shiu Nan Memorial School in Nan Shui, Guangdong where oyster sauce was invented, the donation of Lee Man Tat Secondary School in his hometown, Xinhui, as well as the donation of Lee Kum Kee Philanthropy School in Mianyang, Sichuan. Mr. Lee made donation to Tsinghua University to build the “Lee Man Tat Bio-Medical Science Library” in support of grooming medical practitioners and medical science researchers in China. The library has since been transformed into the “Lee Man Tat Bio-Medical Science Research Centre” as a world-leading protein research platform. In 2013, the "Lee Kum Kee Aeronautics Scholarship" was set up to nurture future talents for the national space industry.
